Four Bronx residents accused of beating an off-duty police officer from White Plains appeared in court Tuesday.More than 200 police officers were in attendance to show their support for Officer Eric Hernandez, who was beaten by five men while on line at a White Castle in the Bronx. Following the attack, Hernandez made his way to the parking lot where he drew his weapon and pointed it at a man he thought was one of his attackers. Witnesses say when police told Hernandez to drop his weapon he turned towards them with his gun in hand. That's when Officer Alfredo Toro fired, hitting Hernandez three times. Nelson Rodriguez, Edwin Rivera, Daryl Massey and a 16-year-old were charged in connection to Hernandez?s attack. The four are expected back in court on February 3. Police say they are still looking to question a man nicknamed "Jump Off." Officer Hernandez, 24, had part of his right leg amputated and remains in critical condition at Saint Barnabas Hospital.
