Shane Dempsey, 32, admitted to soliciting explicit photos and offering payment for a sex act with someone he believed was a minor, according to prosecutors.
He drove his police cruiser to meet the girl, but was arrested during an undercover investigation.
Dempsey pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault and third-degree official misconduct. He will be sentenced in November.
