Fear has gripped a Long Branch community after a former star high school athlete was killed inside his home.

Police have only said that 28-year-old Keith Mason was shot in his home on Second Avenue Thursday. Neighbors say they do not know any additional information. Mason graduated from Long Branch High School in 1996. Residents who knew Mason say they can?t imagine who would want him dead.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting. There is no word on arrests in connection with the case.
