A former Ocean County fire chief and police officer suspected of sexual misconduct has been indicted on new charges.
Robert M. Sinnott, Jr., 53, stands accused of luring co-workers under the pretense of work training and touching them against their will.
He victimized at least 11 subordinates and colleagues, according to investigators.
“The defendant held positions of trust and power within the communities he served… But, as alleged in the indictment, he abused that trust again and again,” said Attorney General Jennifer Davenport in a release on Thursday. “It is inexcusable for public officials to so betray the people they serve and the people they lead. The State is committed to fighting for justice for these victims.”
His previous charges included multiple counts of criminal sexual contact and official misconduct.
The AG says the investigation by the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability uncovered more evidence of criminal behavior.
A state grand jury voted to indict him on additional counts of criminal sexual contact, official misconduct and pattern of official misconduct this week.
He could face more than 10 years in prison if convicted.
