(09/06/06) NEWARK ? A man arrested near the Mexican border earlier this week was formally charged with his roommate?s murder in a Newark courtroom Wednesday.
Fifty-year-old David Scioscia, arrested over the weekend in Texas, was being held on identity theft charges. Police believe Scioscia killed his former roommate, Michael Bolestro, and wrapped his body inside a carpet at home they once shared in Livingston. Investigators say Scioscia attempted to sell the Livingston home using Bolestro?s identity and they believe he also used the victim?s ATM card.
Scioscia is charged with murder, weapons offenses, improper disposition of human remains and identity theft. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment. The suspect is being held on $1 million bail.
