In wake of the fatal LaGuardia Airport crash, News 12’s Shakti Denis provided insight into safety procedures from her former career as an Air Canada flight attendant.
Two pilots were killed and nine other people were critically injured when the Air Canada plane collided with a fire truck late Sunday night.
“On that particular flight, there would have been one flight attendant in the front and one flight tenant in the back. When there is an impact, normally the flight attendants will wait to hear from the pilots,” Denis explained.
A flight attendant survived the deadly crash after she was found outside the aircraft still strapped in her seat, a law enforcement source told CNN.
“If the flight attendants don't hear anything from the pilots, then they would themselves initiate an evacuation… If you don't hear that call, then you must use your own judgment,” Denis said.
“That's why we ask everyone who sitting at the emergency exit before the flight, ‘are you comfortable in an emergency?’ It's always good to have people who can still think clearly and use their judgment,” she said.
