Flowers by Edwards to close after 47 years in Massapequa

Flowers by Edwards in Massapequa will be closing their doors for good this Saturday after nearly half a century in the community.
Siblings Brian and Laurie Logan operated the family-owned business since 1976. It was started by their brother three years earlier. When he died, they kept it going with their father and other family members.
"The best part was just family - just having them here and everyone coming when we needed the help that we needed," Brian Logan says.
The flower store became a go-to place for weddings, funerals and other big events.
They even received an order from Frank Sinatra, and in return got a photo from the famous singer that still hangs on the wall.
In 2015, they made bows to honor NYPD officer Brian Moore, who was killed in the line of duty.
"Everybody was lined out the door, I stayed up all night making bows, so everybody had something to hang on their house in memorial of Brian Moore," says Brian Logan.
Customers say there is nothing like shopping from a small business.
"The comradery, the hospitality, the friendship, those are thing you can't get in a big box store," Melody Finegan says.
The Logans say it's their turn to retire and enjoy family life. They plan to volunteer in the community they love.
