Thousands of flights were either delayed or cancelled at Newark Liberty International Airport Tuesday, leaving many flyers stranded and frustrated.
Besides the pre-Christmas storm impacting flights – the blizzard in Buffalo and a system-wide issues with Southwest Airlines (even though it does not fly out of Newark Liberty) caused a backlog nationwide for all airlines.
By Tuesday evening, there weren't too many lines of travelers left. Still, there were many delays and cancelled trips for a few days after the storm.
That included the one that the Harris family from Clifton was going to board on Tuesday. Taquan Harris was treating his mother, sister and daughter to a trip to Las Vegas until the flight was cancelled after they arrived at the airport.
"The money is one thing but the experience with my family is another thing. I'd much rather have that experience, so if I can't get the money back, I'll still put something together for them," he said.
The whole family was disappointed but made the most of their time together at Newark Liberty by booking into an airport hotel for hibachi and pool time. The Harris family will try again to get to Vegas on Wednesday.
