A challenging rescue operation unfolded in the woods of West Milford on Saturday after a hiker suffered a broken ankle on a trail near Terrace Pond.

First responders embarked on a multimile trek to reach the injured hiker, navigating rough terrain and severe weather conditions.

Due to the storm and difficult landscape, the rescue effort took several hours and required responders to carefully carry the hiker to safety.

The injured hiker is expected to make a full recovery.
