Hudson County first responders received their first doses of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine on Saturday.

Union City and Weehawken partnered to vaccinate their health care workers and emergency medical technicians.

The mayors of both municipalities say they hope this helps instill public confidence in the vaccine.

"This is something we all need to do, it's not a question of, 'Should I get it or should I not get it,'" said Union City Mayor Brian Stack. "No, you should definitely get this vaccine, it will save your life."

After all front-line workers have been vaccinated, essential employees will receive their vaccines next.
