The first major snowstorm to impact New Jersey arrived Monday evening.
Northern parts of the state were expected to see at least 6 inches of snow, while other areas saw heavy rain.
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has issued a speed restriction of 45 mph for most of the Garden State Parkway. A 45 mph restriction is also in place on the Turnpike from Teaneck to the George Washington Bridge.

The heavy snow and rain could potentially lead to some power outages overnight. As of 11 p.m. Monday outages were limited.
Snow and rain are expected to last through to overnight hours and into Tuesday morning. The Tuesday morning commute could be impacted by the storm cleanup.
