Assembly legislators held their first-ever public hearing on the proposed budget at the State House Annex Friday.
Many groups and citizens were happy to hear that the budget proposal was submitted on time. Last year, the government shut down for several days because legislators couldn?t agree on a proposal.
Many were also happy because there are no new taxes included in the proposal. The budget proposal also includes the elimination of a $3 co-pay for adult medical day care. Under the proposal, the autism awareness community would also receive $350,000 for its adult programs.
Not every group was pleased with the budget proposal. The New Jersey Business and Industry group said it?s not crazy about the state going after emission fees again.
