Firefighters rescue person with disabilities from burning home in Hillside

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the windows and a person with disabilities trapped on the first floor.

Quick-thinking firefighters in Essex County saved a person with disabilities from a burning home Wednesday morning.
The fire erupted on the third floor of a multifamily home on Conklin Avenue in Hillside, engulfing the upper part of the building.
Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the windows and a person with disabilities trapped on the first floor.
Deputy Fire Chief Phil Sousa told News 12 that firefighters successfully rescued the individual and prevented the wind-driven flames from spreading to nearby homes.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
