(AP) - Police and firefighters have rescued a woman and her teenage son from a burning home in northern New Jersey.
Maplewood fire officials say the fire broke out around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday at a township home that houses four apartments. Nearly all of the residents were able to get out safely, but authorities had to lead the woman and teen from their unit to safety.
The two were being treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Their names have not been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
Authorities say the fire left 14 residents homeless. They were receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
