Firefighters checked for heat illnesses following Lincroft fire

At least one firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat-related illnesses while battling a fire in Lincroft.
The fire started around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on Dogwood Lane just off of Newman Springs Road.
First responders tell News 12 New Jersey that the flames were shooting through the home’s roof when they arrived. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
There is an excessive heat warning for parts of New Jersey. Temperatures reached the 90s Thursday.
“We had one firefighter taken to Riverview hospital,” says one fire official. “Everybody is getting checked for heat stroke and heat exhaustion.”
Firefighters were able to rescue the family’s dog.
The cause of the fire was not immediately made available.
