A fast-moving fire tore through a Sheridan Avenue deli Saturday morning, leaving it seriously damaged.
The fire started at the Reb Deli Grocery at around 6 a.m.
The deli's owner, who has had the shop for about a year and a half, says he received a call that the store was burning and immediately took a cab over. He says he plans to rebuild, since firefighters told him the store is salvageable.
The damage was confined to the deli, but the apartments situated above were evacuated as smoke filled the upper floors.
Investigators are working to determine the fire's cause.
