A fire broke out at the new Trader Joe’s in Bridgewater, just one day before it was set to host its grand opening.
The fire started Thursday morning at the location. It was already fully stocked and ready to go for its first day. Employees were evacuated, but no one was hurt.
Fire officials say that the fire only damaged an outside wall and did not cause damage inside. The fire was caused by welders who were finishing up last-minute construction.
The Health Department was called in to determine if there was any smoke damage to food.
It was unclear if the grand opening would go on as scheduled on Friday.
