Field Station Dinosaurs says it has started fundraising efforts to hire lawyers after a contractor for the Showboat Resort failed to pay for the dinosaur animatronics after taking possession of them.

According to the GoFundMe campaign, a formal sales contract was finalized and signed on Nov. 14.

The park says two initial payments cleared into its bank account - allowing the transport of the dinosaurs. But, five days later, those payments were reversed after a wire transfer went to the wrong account. The park's bank reported that stop payment orders had been issued on both the buyer’s checks.

The park says it has tried to follow up, but has still not received the money. The contractor for the resort is now using the dinosaurs in its holiday display.

Showboat issued a statement to News 12 saying it has "absolutely no association with his contract or dealings concerning this matter."
