The FDA is warning hospitals not to give probiotics to pre-term babies.
The warning comes after an infant was killed by bacteria linked to a probiotic.
In a warning letter, the agency cautioned health care providers against bacteria and fungi found in probiotics.
Officials say it might put pre-term infants at risk of invasive and potentially fatal infections.
