A fishing trip turned fatal in Monmouth County Friday after searchers find the bodies of a father and son under the ice. Police say 82-year-old George Eaton and his son, 46-year-old Bryan Eaton, of Lawrenceville, went ice fishing in Lake Assunpink on Friday morning. When they failed to return home, their family went looking for them and state police sent out a helicopter and divers to search. Police say when they arrived at the lake all they found was a car and noticed a hole in the frozen lake. The state police and Hope Search and Rescue found the men underneath the ice Saturday. Hope Fire Chief Brad Carter partially blames the weather and the time of year, saying, ?we've seen warm days last week. There are areas in that lake that are 8 inches thick, that area happens to be 1 1/2 to 2 inches.? Investigators say the men could have been in the in the frozen water for hours. The Monmouth County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on Sunday.
