The Family Wellness Suites have reopened and are providing parents with some much-needed resources in both the Bronx and Brooklyn.
The suites provide support with offerings like workshops and birthing and parenting classes that help new parents take control of their lives after having a baby.
Site coordinator Ilish Neely says resources also include a chance for parents to receive a brand-new car seat and even a Pack 'n' Play.
"Here we provide a lot of free classes on like toxic stress," says Neely. "So, we have parenting classes and meditation classes, healthy relationship workshops. We also provide for those who are unable to have the opportunity to obtain a car seat. We provide a car seat for those who are eligible. We also have a safe sleep program where we teach families the ABCs of back to sleep, and we provide a portable crib."
The suites are part of the city's plan to reduce maternal and infant health inequities.
