A Bergen County family spent Independence Day searching Palisades Interstate Park for a missing loved one.
Paramus resident Colin Everett, 24, was last seen hiking in the park on Wednesday.
His family says that he left his cellphone and wallet in his car parked at the park. There are a number of cliffs in the park, and his family is worried he may have fallen and been injured.
The family has been passing out missing persons fliers to people in the park every day since he went missing. Police have also been searching the area by helicopter.
"We've just been canvassing, trying to get his name out, his pictures in the hands of as many hikers as we can who look like they came up from the bottom or they're going out for the day," says Katie Paricio, Everett's cousin.
Police say that they are also investigating the possibility that Everett chose to disappear, but the family says that he gave no indication of that.
"We're a pack of pit bulls and we're going to find him," says Paricio. "Colin, if you're out there, we love you. Please come home or call us. We love you."
Anyone with information about Everett's disappearance should email the family at prayforcolin@gmail.com or contact Paramus police at 201-262-3400 ext. 1110.
