The family of a 2-month-old Bronx infant found dead Saturday is saying that the cold temperatures inside the apartment are to blame for the death.
Jasmine Morales, 19, says she went to feed her daughter early Saturday morning and found the baby blue and not breathing. The little girl was pronounced dead just before 10 a.m. The family believes that the girl froze to death due to a lack of sufficient heat in the apartment complex on Harrison Avenue in Morris Heights. They say repeated complaints were made to the Borough President's Office and the New York City Housing Authority about the conditions, but nothing was ever done to fix the situation.
A Housing Authority representative says no complaints were made until after the baby's death. The medical examiner has yet to determine the exact cause of death.
