Flights at Newark Liberty International Airport are being disrupted Monday morning because of an equipment outage, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA issued a ground stop for flights departing other airports for Newark until 11:15 a.m. The agency said there was a medium, or 30% to 60%, probability the ground stop could be extended.

Flights departing Newark were also delayed an average of 135 minutes as of 11:52 a.m., with delays increasing, according to the FAA.

In a statement, the FAA said the disruption is tied to "issues with some frequencies at Philadelphia TRACON," an air traffic control facility serving the region.

The FAA said it is also pausing flights into Philadelphia International Airport and Teterboro Airport because of the frequency issues.

Travelers should check with their airlines for the latest information about individual flights.
