A house on Drakestown Road in Flanders near Route 206 was destroyed by an explosion Thursday morning, leaving the plot of land littered with rubble and debris.
In the aftermath of the blast, a window pane was seen thrust into the branches of a tree and the car in the driveway was covered by bushes ripped from the ground.
Donna Faletto, a neighbor, was the first to call 911 after the explosion.
?All of a sudden, the whole house felt like it came off the foundation, like a huge explosion,? Faletto says. ?My knees started shaking, so I ran to the phone, called information and got the number for the police department. I called them to ask what happened and they said they didn?t hear or know about anything.?
Police arrived at the scene after receiving the call to begin their investigation.
?At this point we?re still in the very initial stage of our investigation,? says Robert McDermott of the Morris County Prosecutor?s Office. ?It doesn?t appear that there have been any injuries, but we?re trying to make sure of that??
