The longtime executive director of the largest arts center in Jersey City, Mana Contemporary, has been indicted on charges of tax fraud.
The charges against Eugene LeMay are not related to the arts center, but to a New York-based moving and storage company that LeMay was president of.
According to federal prosecutors, LeMay cheated the government out of nearly $8 million in payroll taxes by setting up sham companies.
He is also charged with evading personal income taxes.
News 12 asked Mana Contemporary for comment on LeMay's status with the organization but has not heard back.
