Police say ATM robbers led them on a chase that ended in a crash Tuesday at East 96th Street and Church Avenue in Brownsville.
The NYPD says officers tracked down an ATM and attempted to make a stop to recover the stolen property. The suspects inside the car tried to get away and that's when they crashed their van straight into another car.
Surveillance video captured the moment of impact when a van hit the car around 5 a.m. Two men jumped out and fled. It's unclear where the suspects are at this time.
Police say those same men could be seen around 4:45 a.m. prying out an ATM using pliers to take off the lock before carrying it out of the convenience store at 981 Halsey St.
The ATM was able to be recovered due to a tracking device inside.
