New Jersey will face hazy, hot and humid weather for the foreseeable future.
An excessive heat watch is in effect for most of the state from Saturday morning through Monday afternoon.
News 12 New Jersey meteorologists say that temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s will combine with humidity to make it feel like it's 105 degrees. These strong temperatures are expected to last until late next week.
People who came to the St. Ambrose Parish Carnival in Old Bridge Friday night say that they are preparing for the summer swelter.
"Tonight ain't so bad. Once it gets dark out it kind of cools down. I let the kids run around, let them do their thing," says resident Brian Smith. "I'm staying still and trying not to move too much. In the middle of the day you got to stay inside. It's way too hot out."
Health officials say the very young and the very old should avoid spending too much time outdoors. Officials advise staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and staying in a cool location.
Many towns have set up cooling centers for those who are unable to escape the high temperatures.
