A religious leader from Monmouth County was indicted by a grand jury Thursday on charges he stole from his congregation.
Rabbi Peter Light is accused of taking money from the Rabbi Discretionary Fund at the Marlboro Jewish Center. Center officials say the funds were meant to help people in need, but authorities say Light used the money for personal use. Light was released after his arrest Wednesday.
The Board of Trustees for the center began investigating Light after he resigned in June following rumors of wrongdoing. He led the Jewish Center for two years and now works as a car salesman at Oasis Ford in Old Bridge.
