(03/01/06) ORANGE ? Look out ?CSI,? the Essex County Prosecutor?s Office plans on giving its embattled crime scene unit a major makeover.

Essex County has been under pressure from politicians to achieve a higher conviction rate. In addition, the public has also been expecting better crime scene results based on the popularity of many police television shows. Now, prosecutors will take $1 million in money and property seized in criminal cases and pump those financial resources into their crime scene unit.

The crime scene unit operations will take place in a 100-year-old Orange warehouse. Some blame the recent lack of crime scene unit funding on a revolving door of temporary prosecutors and poor leadership.
