An Essex County corrections officer fired his gun early Friday morning in Newark, officials told News 12 New Jersey.
The officer opened fire around 5:30 a.m. near Lindsley Avenue and Crown Street. No injuries were reported.
Authorities said one person was taken into custody but did not say why the officer fired his gun.
