The entire Maple Shade Fire Department has been suspended for the next three months.

Firefighters posted on Facebook that the township does not want to work with them. The fire department is a volunteer operation.

Maple Shade leaders say that they are focused on restructuring and rebuilding fire services in the town to better serve the community. They say that what is happening will not impact residents.

Maple Shade Township Manager Susan Danson says in a statement, "Residents will see no delay in fire and rescue services, as neighboring communities will continue to service the township as they always have.”

The statement continued, “We are indebted to the members of the Independent Volunteer Fire Company for their many years of service and are hopeful we can preserve the longstanding tradition of their organization.”
