Employees in one Union County community learned today that they may not get paid this week.
There had been a disagreement between Mayor Joseph Menza and the town council in Hillside. Last night, the council fired the town's chief financial officer, Janice Saponaro.
The mayor says without her, the town can't pay its employees.
The council has voted to take the mayor to court about the paychecks.
The mayor tells News 12 New Jersey he got a ruling from the state that says only he can fire the town's CFO. The mayor says that means she'll be back on the job tomorrow.
