A historic Elizabeth church is desperately looking for ways to find some much needed cash.
Reverend Joseph Parrish, of St. John?s Episcopal Church, says he came up with the idea to sell the church?s windows while he was writing a sermon. However, he says when he presented the idea to the congregation ?there was some gasping.?
Parrish says the church brings in approximately $2,000 a week in donations, but needs about $3,000 more every Sunday to stay afloat.
?You can only make so much money on bake sales and white elephant sales and that sort of thing,? Parrish said.
The church currently has enough money to stay open the next few years. Parrish says the Tiffany windows aren?t for sale yet, but he has some offers already. He says he hopes if the church must sell the windows, they end up in a different church.
