An Election Day shooting threat closed Kent Elementary School in Twin Rivers Tuesday while residents cast their ballots.
The East Winsor superintendent says the district received a letter threatening a shooting while the polls were open at the school. School officials immediately increased security. The superintendent closed the elementary school to protect the students. He says elections are open public events and he has no jurisdiction to manage the flow of people.
Some parents and school officials feel schools shouldn?t be used for polling sites. Others say it will be too hard to find new locations. Class at Kent Elementary will resume Wednesday.
