News 12 has learned an assistant principal at Edison High School is under fire.
The Council of Americana-Islamic Relations is accusing Nicole Himmelstein of making threats against members of the school’s Muslim Student Association.
An audio recording was made during a meeting with the administrator and students.
The accusations come after the group requested to host an Iftar event at the high school and invite students from nearby schools.
According to the group, they were told by Himmelstein they were barred from hosting the event with outside students citing security concerns.
In the recording, Himmelstein is allegedly heard telling students she would take action against them if they seek outside help advocating for the joint event that the group has held in previous years.
Edison Superintendent Edward Aldarelli released the following statement:
“The district is immediately reviewing the allegation raised by CAIR-NJ, and we are committed to conducting a thorough investigation."
