It’s been over a month since recreational marijuana sales began in New Jersey for those who are 21 years old and older. Originally 13 dispensaries were approved to start selling the products – but one remains unopened.
The Curaleaf dispensary in Edgewater Park is currently only open for medical marijuana sales, but this could soon change.
A Facebook post by Edgewater Park police Tuesday morning announced that Curaleaf would begin selling recreational marijuana on Wednesday at 9 a.m. That post has since been deleted.
When adult use sales began on April 21, the Edgewater Park Curaleaf location was not able to open due to discrepancies with the township. The mayor of the township says that the dispensary agreed to certain site improvements before they can open.
News 12 New Jersey saw some pieces of construction equipment in the parking lot. The lot has been expanded since the end of April.
News 12 reached out to Curaleaf to see if it would open on Wednesday but did not hear back. Edgewater Police also did not respond to requests for comment.
