Authorities in East Orange say that a man was killed after his clothing caught fire while he was trying to keep himself warm by the stove.
Officials said 64-year-old Kouadio Loboue was sitting in a walker near the stove in his home Sunday afternoon to keep warm. His clothes then caught fire and the blaze spread to the rest of the house.
Loboue was declared dead at the scene.
It was the second fatal East Orange fire over the weekend.
Maureen Phillips died when a fire broke out in her home on Midland Avenue early Sunday morning. Seven other family members were able to escape.
Officials are still trying to determine the cause of that fire.
