A man from Colonia was sentenced Thursday after confessing to a drunk-driving crash that killed a Perth Amboy police officer.
Sean McGuirk was sentenced to eight years in prison for the accident that killed police officer Thomas Raji last August.
Families of both the defendant and the victim appeared in court. Raji's wife spoke in memory of her husband.
Officials say McGuirk cried during the proceedings and made a brief statement.
