A drug bust at a North Bergen apartment complex succeeded in catching criminals, but it also displaced dozens of families.
The 34 families living at Eastern Apartment Complex were ordered to leave their homes last week after the building was deemed unsafe, mainly due to electrical code violations. The building owner is paying for renters to stay at area hotels until he fixes the problems. Tenants say they?re ready to get back home and they?re tired of getting the runaround from inspectors. Steven Cazun is frustrated because the school system won?t send a bus to the hotel to pick up his children. Cazun says they haven?t been to school in a week.
The owner did not return calls for comment. Police arrested nine people in the raid that led to the families being displaced.
