(02/14/06) SPARTA ? The Sparta Department of Public Works (DPW) has taken steps to ensure post-storm flooding in the area is a thing of the past.
DPW employees say they?ve clearly marked basins with yellow paint so workers know where to look. In addition, they?ve made clearing storm drains after storms a top priority. Many Sparta residents are thrilled with the DPW?s efforts. Those living in the area say before the changes, a storm similar to the most recent weekend snowstorm would have wreaked havoc on the area.
Although DPW employees are working hard to prevent flooding after the weekend snowfall, they still urge residents to do their part. They say homeowners in the area should clear clogged storm drains located on their property.
