Dozens of people gathered in Westport on Sunday to protest several decisions made by the United States Supreme Court last week.
The organizers of the event are calling it the “Rally Against Regression.” They feel that the Court let them down when it came to decisions made on gun control and a woman’s right to have an abortion.
DefenDemocracy of Connecticut joined with a number of Connecticut’s Democratic leaders, including Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz and Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
They say that they are frustrated that the Supreme Court struck down a New York law restricting gun owners’ ability to carry concealed weapons and overturned Roe v. Wade, ending a women’s right to an abortion. The Roe v. Wade decision has been constitutionally protected for 50 years. It will likely lead to abortion bans in roughly half of the states.
