Police in Paterson are looking for the people that stole $250 in donations from two wooden collection boxes at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church.
It happened sometime between Sunday and Monday at the corner of Broadway and Memorial Drive.
Officials say the suspects broke into the building through a rear door and smashed through several doors to get to the collection boxes.
The congregation uses the donations to provide food and clothing for the needy.
Officials say other churches in the city have seen similar burglaries in recent years.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Paterson police.
