Middletown Township hopes commuters ditch their cars for the bus with the ?Dock and Roll? shuttle service program.
The shuttle buses run between the Middletown Train Station and the Bayshore Ferry Terminal in Belford. Township officials hope to cut down on congestion and help the environment with the program.
?It will help lessen the congestion around town, lessen congestion at parking lots, lessen pollution and lessen energy usage,? Mayor Gerald Scharfenberger said.
However, many residents say Dock and Roll is the area?s best-kept secret. Many claim they are completely unaware of the program?s existence.
"I thought it was for seniors at Applebee's to eat or something and that they were picking them up,? resident Maryann Patricola said.
Although some residents are apparently in the dark about the program, Dock and Roll?s price could encourage them to learn more. It?s free. The shuttle service is also available to shopping centers and restaurants within Middletown.
