A celebration honoring the dead will take place this weekend at a Morris County museum.
The Morris Museum is hosting a Dia de los Muertos celebration. The Disney movie “Coco” will be shown, and there will be plenty of food truck vendors. The entire event is free.
Dia de los Muertos – or the “Day of the Dead” - is a celebration of life and remembrance. The event invites the community to experience their past loved ones by visiting alters that feature artwork by students from the Red Oak School in Morris Plains.
"This is a great opportunity to learn about a different culture that might be familiar and it's a great opportunity to really see how the Mexican culture really celebrates loved ones and being able to have spiritual connection that might be different from what you have experience growing up,” says Cristina Rovayo, associate educator at the Morris Museum.
The event will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
