There's good news for commuters using Interstate 78 that are fed up with construction in the express lanes between Route 24 and the Garden State Parkway. Some good luck and a financial incentive has helped the Department of Transportation get ahead of schedule. The DOT says a $900,000 incentive, good weather and no complications helped speed up the construction. The express lanes, which were supposed to have construction through December, are now expected to reopen before Thanksgiving. The only bad news is there is work scheduled to being on the local lanes in the spring.
