Police need the public?s help to find those responsible for leaving an abused dog on the side of the road.

The 2-year-old greyhound Labrador mix was found by police on Thursday in a wooded area off Route 10. Animal control investigators say the dog, found with 50 bites to his legs, neck and face, suffered ongoing abuse. They believe the dog was used as bait to illegally train fighting dogs.

The Humane Society has put up a $2,500 reward for anyone with information on who is responsible for abusing the dog. Meanwhile, the dog will remain in the Denville pound as he recovers from his wounds and infections.
