Democratic candidate Rob Andrews and incumbent Sen. Frank Lautenberg made their final push Wednesday for the U.S. Senate seat less than a week before the June 3 New Jersey primaries.

While four-term Sen. Lautenberg announced federal funding for new police technology, his opponent Andrews spoke to his supporters at a luncheon. During their speaking engagements, both candidates criticized the other?s platform and experience.

The verbal attacks are no different from the recent television commercials in which both candidates challenge each other?s credentials and age. Lautenberg is 84 years old.

Republican candidates, former U.S. Rep. Dick Zimmer, state Sen. Joe Pennacchio and former gubernatorial candidate Murray Sabrin are seeking their party's nomination.
