Water samples will be collected at Deal Lake in Asbury Park after the NJDEP says an estimated 67,000 gallons of sewage and stormwater leaked into the water

The health department says residents and visitors are advised to refrain from water activities such as fishing, boating and kayaking within Deal Lake until further notice.

The leakage was discovered on Saturday. The city says it originated from lines it owns and operates. The discharge was stopped on Sunday and repairs continued into Monday.

The Deal Lake Commission says the NJDEP will be collecting samples and testing water from both the lake and the ocean.

Results should be available on Wednesday.
