A popular Christmas tree lot in Middlesex County was in danger of losing its spot but was given a second change thanks to help from customers.
Coastal Evergreens has set up at the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick every year for the last 40 years. But a permit issue this year nearly lost them the spot.
Luckily longtime customers rallied together and the popular Christmas tree sellers were able to stay.
"I don't think the new ownership realized exactly what was going on here," says owner Bill Kohlepp. "Thankfully our customers contacted them and there was a social media blitz that got us back here and we certainly appreciate all the help."
Customers say that they were happy to help.
"It's like where everyone goes," says customer Justine Reiner. "My whole family's been coming here for a long time."
Kohlepp says that business is expected to be on par, if not slightly higher than last year since many stores put out holiday decorations earlier than before.
Some New Jersey residents say that they started shopping for their Christmas trees on Black Friday.
